I could have sworn someone posted a how to sort of video of someone applying water soluble Aniline dyes. anyone?

Hi Rusty,

no idea if this is the video you mean, but it was the first that popped up.
It's from Taunton on how to apply a sunburst finish with Aniline dyes.

A quick question,

It seems like he uses a fair amount of water for this. Would there be any adverse affect on using tis method for a spruce guitar top?
