I see alot of different info regarding how long to leave an assembly in clamps/go-bar, etc. The bottle of tite-bond says to clamp for 1/2 hour. Stewmac says leave clamped over night (talking braces here). Other sources say clamp for an hour, but don't work on it or put any stress on it for 24 hours.

Yadda yadda...

is there any rhyme or reason to this? I ask, because I am clamping my top braces now in my go-bar deck, and I am not in a hurry, but it would certainly be more efficient if I had an idea. At the moment its been "glue x-brace, wait overnight. Glue tone bars, wait overnight. Glue finger braces.... " you get the idea.

Again, not looking to rush, but if I am being overly anal about this and could streamline things, that would be great.

:)

I set my timer for 40 minutes and remove clamps. Only time I keep it longer its for the bridge.

Seems I'm always in a hurry and remove the clamps in 3/4 hour or so. But... if it is a joint that was forced into place by the clamps... and when the clamps are removed the glue, not a good fit, has to hold it is place, then I try to leave it clamped over night.

I use a timer like Peter M. I set it at 45 minutes. I use HHG. I'm not sure about clamp times with different glues.

Different glues require different clamp times. Read the label of the brand of glue you have. If you force a glue joint , you may as well stop and start over , it will fail sooner or later. That is the art of building , to perfect the joining process. I will allow the top to lay in overnight as the glue will add moisture to the top and I want to hold this in the disk to help stabilize as it dries.

I glue all the braces on at the same time and let it sit in the go-bar press for 24 hours, no matter what type of glue I use.
