Not wanting to touch Rich's post with a 10 foot pole gaah I just want to let Rich know that my new friend bliss Bill Hibdon has some beautiful Olive wood that I believe he said was from Spain. Really nice sets and priced very reasonably too. Give Hibdon a call. Tell them I referred you. Regardless of religious beliefs the "Golden Rule" always works for me. pretty simple concept too.

How does Olive run as a tonewood?

It is intriguing.... Where does it fall .... Mahogany.... Rosewood.... Maple.... etc...

Thanks

John

John I'm not really sure. Haven't had a chance to really examine a piece. The stuff that Hibdon has looked very nice. Why don't you give them a call.

I bought a great set from Hibdon last fall and a client who had ordered a African Mahogany guitar was there and instantly switched to the Olivewood!
The grain was beautiful and it had a great tap tone( beehive )
The weight & stiffness are simular to Maple, stiff Walnut,Cherry
Palo Escrito -Really

I made a 14 fret classical for him and that wood is great to work with !!!!
Bent easily-held shape-did NOT warp across the grain(sides)
Smells nice-what else can ya ask for in a B & S wood???
get some soon !!!
