My work island does double duty as a setup bench and I'm always having to clear stuff off it to do setups. I finally got around to building a dedicated bench for this.
Just used a couple of cheap kitchen base units bolted together and topped with particle board and Melamine. The little tool catchers at each end are great as they keep stuff that might scratch a guitar off the bench. I got the idea from someone here but I can't remember who.

Nice inexpensive and very effective solution there Terry! I might do something similar myself - thanks for the tip! [:Y:]

Is there a reason one carpet tile is shag while the other is short haired, or is that just what you had to hand?

Cheers,
Dave F.

Dave,
They've got a pile of carpet samples at my local Menards that they sell for a few dollars each. The shag was a more recent purchase. I'm not sure I like it as bad stuff like fret ends etc. could get lost in it and come back to grab you.

My favorite for padding are those blue blankets they give you on airplanes. I always snag a few when i fly and ask friends to do the same so i always have plenty and don't feel bad about tossing them when they get encrusted with glue and poky stuff. I like 2" to 4" thick pieces of foam a bout 1' x 1' and 1' x 2' which have been hastily upholstered with airplane blankets.

Sweet bench, and it's nice to have a window right there.

Yeah, really, how do you rate a window?
Nice bench.

Seesh.....all these years and I never thought of that. I thought that I wasn't supposed to take them!
