I'm having problems with the last few lap steel guitars I've built with volume on the 6th string. I am hoping that it's with my setup and not something with the bracing or top/back thickness or various other building issues that can effect the sound.
I try to set the string height at the nut between 1/2" - 3/8" from the fingerboard and make sure that the string height at the bridge is higher than the nut height. Does this seem okay and could this have an effect on not getting enough volume? The interesting thing is that the 1-5 strings sound fine but the 6th string seems "dead".
Any feedback would be great.
