Several weeks ago I started getting intense chest pain. My doctor sent me to get an “upper GI” which was inclusive and also sent me to get a cardiac stress test. The stress test appeared to be irregular. So, I underwent a cardiac catheterization. The cath. showed no blockage… I am wondering now if I have had an allergic reaction to something in the shop… maybe dust? Lately I’ve been working with Koa, mahogany, and spruce, nothing too bad… I have also used Z-poxy, CA, naphtha, and denatured alcohol. Does anybody have any thoughts or guesses? Could this be allergy related?

You should probably consult an allergist for your question. In any case, you should always protect from breathing wood particles. You do not need to be allergic to develop lung disease from particles of any kind.

When my asthma acts up, I get chest pains that are supposed to be spasms in the lung passages. However, in my case, I don't think a doctor would mistake them for heart problems, but I do not know.

CA makes me have sever asthma for several days, if I breathe the fumes. Probably not if I just fix a little crack, but if I use it for flooding a rosette or something like that, where there are lots of fumes. I wear a fume mask, and leave the shop for hours after, to keep it from happening. I've about decided that I'm going to stop using it except in little tiny fixes.
