Howdy Gang,

Just a heads up on the Colorado Custom Guitar Festival.
(http://coloradoluthiers.org/ and click on the show logo)

This year the Colorado Luthiers have opened the show up to non-members and there are still some tables available if you are so inclined. Check out the web pages and the Exhibitor Application page if you would like to join in as an exhibitor. Contact Patrick Aslakson directly with any questions or comments. And for all you Lookie-Lous with big bux burning a hole in your pocket, "Wahll, yall come on dhawan!" :P

Laters,
Alan D.

Alan, can you elaborate a bit on this event? I suspect you've participated in the previous few years. How many people tend to show up (tables)? General audience attendance? Any other highlights or observations would be great to know.

Thanks!

Filippo

Howdy Filippo,

Heh, heh, yeah I've participated. Actually it was I who started the Colorado Luthiers group and put on the first two shows. I have since stepped down and Patrick Aslakson is now the head of the group, he is the one putting on this years show.

Those earlier shows were held at the Swallow Hill Music building, you can see details and photos of those shows by going to the Colorado Luthiers web site http://coloradoluthiers.org/ . Click on the link at the Left for the Colorado Custom Guitar Festival and that goes to a different page that shows info from past shows too. Click on the Show Photos link to see images of the 2004 show. I thought we had up photos of the 2005 show but I don't find those now. In any case you can get a good idea of the traffic and typical layout from those photos.

They were pretty well attended. At that time we were only allowing members of the ColoLuth to exhibit and I think we had about ~20 tables for each show. Given the current count in the list of Exhibitors right now for the 2009 show I suspect it will be similar, probably under 25 tables. That will probably be the limit for the Rotunda space although I haven't actually seen the new location at the School, it might expand to more. Still, for $75/table you can't beat the price with a stick and I think that includes tickets to the Saturday night show! It should be fun and I hope to get good traffic. The evening show should be great too.

Laters,
Alan D.

Filippo,

I found the photos from the 2005 show and put them up on the web pages as well. Same location as I mentioned earlier but now there is a link out to the 2005 Show Photos as well. As I recall, looking at the pictures, the turn-out for 2005 was almost double the original show.

Enjoy,
Alan D.

OK, I submitted a application. Any reasonable hotels nearby?
Can't find the link to the 2005 photos...

Haans,

Make sure you are clicking on the link on the left side of the page, not the show logo. In the page that pops up from there the links are below the box about the 2009 show. I suspect you need to reload that page in your browser, I'll bet it is cached and displaying the old page. If you see the links for the 2005 show, then the 2004 show, then the 2004 photos, that is the old page. Just click the "reload" button on your browser to force it to go get the latest/greatest and then you should get all the links.

As far as hotels/motels check with Patrick on that. I thought he was going to post up a list but maybe he didn't get to that, he is one busy boy right now. I'm quite a ways away so I can't help you out there, it is going to be about an hour and a half drive for me.

Your info should be up on the site now as an exhibitor, double check I got everything right. Hope to see you in Oct.

Laters,
Alan D.

Thanks Alan, finally got it figured out.
Still trying to figure out what to do, didn't expect to be accepted that fast. I've got some details to take care of (finishing our upstairs bedroom gaah ), but hope to make it. It's a 2K drive solo for me... [xx(], but I would like to meet some of you folks and talk instruments!
