For about a month I noticed some bad string buzz and/or choking of notes when playing on one certain fret.
It's a Stratocaster.
Strings high E to the 4th would buzz at the 7th fret, no where else.
I discovered the 7th fret was lower than the others.
So I files down the frets to even them out and recrowned the tops.
This cured 3 strings, it still buzzes for the 4th string at the 7th fret.
The 4th string has improved but not 100%.

My question is, should I go back and shave some more off all the frets or just look for something uneven around the 4th string area?

you can just treat the problem areas by sanding them down slightly .. Jody

If you have a single high fret, you can bring it down level with the rest, but a low fret is a different issue. You'd need to bring all the other frets down to its level, or you'll just chase the buzz around. That's exactly what happened.
All frets were equal in height so they all had to come down.
After thinking about it some more I realized this and filed the rest down and everything is good.

Just replace the low fret with a new one and file it down to the level of the rest.
