I am still exploring options for cases. Is it possible to buy TKL cases with custom fitted interiors? Does anyone here buy cases wholesale, direct from TKL? Or are there TKL dealers you would recommend working with who have discount pricing for guitar makers, and who could offer me custom fitting options?

Thanks -

Todd

Get in touch with Dennis Reamy at Cedar Creek Cases which is effectively the custom shop for TKL.

I spent some time there when I was in the States last year. He's a great guy who is interested in the small time builders like ourselves.

He showed me a new TKL case which was to be a competitor with Calton at half the weight and less cost. Very impressive case actually.

Without going to Cedar Creek .. i dont think so .. a lot of the TKL cases are actually made in Canada (my supplier gets them factory direct, pre TKL badging) and the sizes and interiors are set -- you cant change anything, unless you order in at least batches of 24 (my supplier has custom ordered 0 size cases, in 24s, and specified the interiors and such)

Check out Tamarkin Company Inc. for pre-branded TKL cases at a good price. No custom stuff I am aware of though. Dennis at Cedar Creek did a custom for the size 2 I make.

I have purchased TKL style cases from Garry Gauger at Heinl, I got a couple cases from him when he had his own web site and the next one through Heinl. I like the double arch, 6 latch, tweed cases, I have seen the single arch case and it only has 3 latches. The covering on these cases could be a little thicker as they are a little easy to scuff but the rest of the case is real good.

Thanks...from your wording, I thought you'd found a cheaper source.

I use Tamarkin also.
But custom sizes may set you back some.

Talk to John at Tamarkin ,he's very helpful.

For custom size cases on a budget I use a Dread case and have an automotive upholstery guy make inserts so the guitar fits the case.

Thanks for all the replies. Okay, so Cedar Creek cases are TKL. That's useful information. I'll give that option some more consideration. I'll also get in touch with Tamarkin and see what they could do for me.

Thanks again -

A couple weeks ago in stew-mac's "trade secrets" was a lesson on making custom cases from their "LiteCases". It was sent through email, but you may be able to find it on there website as well. I'm able to forward it through email, but can't find a link. The cases run about 120 bucks.
