of course I'm going to modify it to fit the width of guitar but I think this unit looks very solid. What do you guys think?

eek Seems really expensive to me. Have you considered a mortise template from Stew-Mac?

This would be plenty easy enough to make out of wood, plexiglass, or UHMW. I wouldn't spend the money. For the price, you could buy enough materials to build several jigs.

Also, it is not big enough. The original version only does 2" long mortises and the new one does 3" long. It would also not clamp onto a guitar body. Totally wrong tool for the job.
