Always one in every crowd. laughing6-hehe

This is what I use, it's a 3/16 allen key.

Thanks cal,I wasn`t sure if I needed 5 mm or 3/16.Don`t want to wreck anything.I really like Kyle`s wrench a littlle better.Seems like the way I usually go at things.Kyle you must have seen my chain saw technique in my avatar for carving necks.
James

I just adjusted an HD28 this afternoon. 5mm was the correct size for this guitar, 3/16" would be too loose. I recommend you remove the nut and lubricate it before adjusting as most are not lubricated at the factory. I use a tiny dab of graphite wheel bearing grease on the threads but a drop of oil will work as well.

If you want to know more about truss rods, Frank Ford has good info at Frets.com.

If it's a single action rod (probably) just keep turning to the left and catch it when it falls out. A few refuse to fall but can be coaxed out with needle nosed pliers.

If it's a double action rod (the adjustment nut will be right above the neck block) I suppose you could then make use of Kyle's wrench. :D

Just kidding - I haven't had occasion to remove one of those (yet).

Jay

Oops! I stand corrected. That allen key is 5mm. not 3/16.
