I am wondering what your ideal nut slot width would be for each string. i bought some basic files on ebay a while back , they cut through the bone nicely , but 3 or 4 of them are sized an exact match to the strings I am using.my thoughts are one would want the slot slightly oversized, by maybe a few thousandths ... but hey i could be wrong...I was wrong once before .... I think .. if I remember correctly ! LOL Jody

no you are right. I usually go 5 thou over. That way it gives the player some room if he/she wants to move up in gauge.
