Just received it in the mail today. The gasket that comes with it does not come together in the ring on the vacuum plate. Is this a problem? It looks like they cut it too short. There is atleast an 3/16th's gap between the ends.

Yes, it is a problem, but it's easily fixable. If it's a soft foam gasket, just stretch it a bit and glue the ends together with CA. I like to spray the accelerator on one end and put the glue on the other.
