I bought a beautiful board today, enough for maybe four guitars. It was sold as being "Brazilian Ebony". Has anyone ever worked with it? Does it go by any other names? It is really, really pretty and feels dense and hard enough to make a good instrument wood. I'll post a pic when I've finished the first one...... Mikey

Brauna (Melanoxylon brauna) is sometimes called Brazilian ebony. Family Leguminosae; same as rosewoods (but hey, so are sweet peas).

I have a set of it and look forward to building with it. Visually kind of bland dark brown, but I think it could be an excellent tonewood.
