Ive been working on a pair of OMFS guitars. One has a cedar top, the other engelman.
I start the bindings tomorrow. The bindings will be Brazilian, with b/koa/b top and side purfs. Should be nice!

Thank for looking!

Methinks your Brazilian is Mexican or maybe Nicaraguan Cocobolo. And, mighty fine stuff at that! I am especially drawn to the stripe-y one.

Or, maybe you meant you're binding these babies with Brazilian? Rosewood on Rosewood? Isn't that cannibalism, or nepotism, or some other ungodly, barbaric, and unnatural act?

Oh well, you just keep cranking out beautiful guitars, so you must be doing something right.

Dennis

Thanks!
Dennis, yes Brazilian (bindings) I reworded my post to make it a little more clear ;)
The back and sides are indeed Cocobolo from Hibdon.

OK, that makes sense now. I misread things. Lance do you use epoxy to join the back with Cocobolo?
Thanks
Terry

Do you use it on the head and tail blocks, back braces, and lining as well?

Hi Terry,

Yes on the back braces, no on everything else.
I use DA to clean up the squeeze out.
One caveat, Denatured alcohol can make some coco bleed like a stuck pig!
I have had to redo back braces because it leached into the spruce.

Not so fast, Lance.
I still want to know if these babies are going to Healdsburg?
(See, I'm needing to know how stiff the competition will be! :D )

I use the 205 hardener. 206 works well and it stays clear (as oppossed to going amber in color) but it requires more time in the clamps.

I just checked, I also use the 205.

Steve, these will be delivered to their owner before HGF. They both go to same guy ;)

Nice Cocobolo, I have another set myself and now that I have completed a Coco guitar I can't wait to use it.
Have you had any reactions to the dust? I hear some people have big allergy problems with it.
