can someone give me a source for the thin strips of fiber used to trim , or make a second thin ring around a rossette, I think it comes in various colors and combinations , ie, black , white, black and white , black/white/black etc etc . I bought some plastic strips used for this , but the glue seemed to disolve it it some areas around my bindings. thanks Jody

Jody,

Grizzly has a lot of different fiber purfling strips available http://grizzly.com/products/searchresul ... q=purfling or if you want to order a larger quantity you might try Gurian http://www.gurianinstruments.com/

Bob C @ RC tonewoods sells the sheets of the fiber material for an excellent price. It glues very well and it is easy to purchase the raw sheets and make exactly what you need when you need it. The 7 1/4 60 tooth diablo blade is the bees knees for ripping the strips off of a glue up also. If you only need a little bit I think Stewmac and LMI both sell already laminated strips.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but does anyone know of a supplier of COLORED fiber sheets (or purflings) in .01 and .02 thicknesses?

Specifically I am looking for fiber in the brown/tan family

Brock,

Shane has some Koa/Maple/Koa 28/12/28 x .080" x 34.5" and some Mahogany .02" x .187" x 65" (double length) listed on his website. Don't know if that's what you're looking for, but it is kind of brown/tan.

LMI has "rust" colored in a .3mm thickness. I believe .3mm will be around .011" but sometime my math(and my brain) isn't right. eek

Thanks. Actually I am looking for colored fiber, not wood.
