I know most of you have switched to reversed kerfed linings over conventional ones, but loads of you have heating blankets and fox bender or equivalent and wondered why you don't bend solid ones up if stiffness is the main concern and I couldn't see weight difference being the issue?

I use reverse kerfed linigs because they are faster than solid ones, and for me they are plenty stiff enough.

I do something just like that John. I just posted a tutorial on how I do it in the tutorial section. It is very stiff but, as Jordan says, not very quick especially if you purchase the linings and don't make them yourself.

I continue to do two-part, laminated solid-strip linings. Mine have a little step in them from the two parts. I think they are stiff, and light, but in practice they are probably not significant in either way. Sometimes you do things because it is just your way of doing them.

I use four layer laminated linings which are made in a two part mould. You do need to make a new mould for each body shape, but it takes about an hour. I wouldn't go back to kerfed linings again.

I don't believe in anything, I simply make use of a set of reasonable working hypotheses.

I am trying a 3 ply solid lining for the first time. I didn't bend them in advance, just glued them to the sides so it only takes a few minutes more than purchasing kerfed linings.

I notice that I'm "cocobolo" now. I don't care for cocobolo that much, although it is pretty. How can I go back to being "mahogany"?

I assumed that the type of wood was based on the number of posts one has made in the OLF. Is that correct?

I guess so. Todd gets to be Brazilian, that's nice. Too elite though, and expensive.
I would like to be "figured mahogany". Could I just rotate thru the different kinds of mahogany?

I've been doing Spanish Cedar linings for several years now, since I got a load of the stuff, from a door builder in town. It imparts a nice smell to the box. I did a whole guitar of SC once, came out nice.
