I thicknessed a back set of Padauk for a tenor ukulele to ~.073" and wonder if it it's too thin to use? I remember reading a recommendation on someone's step by step ukulelel building site of .070" but can't remember if that was for mahogany or koa and if this would make a difference.

I would like to salvage it but if I have to I could glue up another one. The catch would be I would have to use wood reserved for and extra side set, assuming I will break one...

Thanks in advance.
_Mike

.070 is fine for a guitar, so it should be OK for a uke. Lots of old vintage guitars have sides as thin as .060 or even thinner. It really depends on the individual piece of wood.

Lance, Todd, Jimmy,

Thank you for the the replies and reassurance!

Now I can move forward and worry about another aspect of the build...

We are spoiled by the amount of information on this site and of course your generosity.

Sincerely,
_Mike
