I found a thread in the archives (2006) about using antler for nuts and saddles. I have access to some as well and was wondering if anyone ended up trying the material? I was planning to do a comparison with bone when the time comes, but any feedback of your attempts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Laurie

I think it all depends on the application. What sound your looking for etc. It is softer than bone and would absorb more vibration. Some guitars might benefit from it and others might not.I like brass and bone the best, and have tried deer antler before. It can chip easier and is a little brittle sometimes, but no two deer are the same and will differ from each other on denseity. That being said, select it wisely.
