Don't know if this is the right section, but I just got an email from Vermont Instruments informing me of the new Repair class and Banjo class that they've added in addition to their normal guitar building class. Just wanted to plug it in for anyone that wanted to check it out.

http://vermontinstruments.com/course.html

I attended VTI and I can definitely say that they have a great bang for the buck with a very thorough and well thought out curriculum. Once you throw in the fact that housing is included, I don't know how you'd be able to beat the price! I haven't met the Banjo teacher, but I can definitely say that the Repair teacher (Adam) is a real top-notch guy and knows his stuff.

At any rate, I just wanted to throw it out there for anyone who may be looking for a good class at a very reasonable price. [:Y:]

Will Fielding, the guy who is teaching the banjo class, is a first rate banjo maker and a nice guy. I would bet that he's an excellent teacher as well.

A gazillion years ago or so, I first learned "proper" guitar making (as opposed to the hillbilly guitar building I was doing beforehand) from Charles Fox and George Morris (of Vermont Instrument) at the Earthworks school. They were both absolutely top shelf teachers, and I would have to think that George's standards haven't lowered over the years.
