or are the two even related? i just hand sanded a 20" radius into a fretboard with a radius caul (i will definitely be using a different method next time) and in doing so i managed to sand the bass side down about .010" to .015" lower than the treble side. i figured id just go back out and fix it, then i thought maybe id leave it. other than looking a bit caddywompus if you sight down the fretboard, would there be any advantages/disadvantages to leaving it this way? this is my first guitar by the way.

No worries and in fact this is often done on classical guitars. Let me guess, you sanded the board from one side and in one direction only? ;)

bingo. i was really mindful to keep even pressure and make sure to sand the entire board evenly, but to no avail. fortunately not a big deal to fix. thanks for the responses.

not quite sure how to deepen fret slots on a bound board. i dont know if that will be necessary in this case, but any help along those lines?

Very very carefully :)

Edit - woops deleted because I misunderstood

Not sure how to answer that. Perhaps a dremel jig set up...
