As at 10:30 pm Australian EST 84 dead and counting and many, many, more seriously burnt with the destruction of over 750 homes in Australia's worst ever bushfire disaster. The fires still march on so your positive thoughts and well wishes folks this is a terribly sad and tragic situation.

Peace and strength to all

Kim

108 dead (and counting), 750 homes lost - in fact, entire towns wiped off the map.

They've had a heatwave down there that's kept the maximum daily temp up at around 118F for a week or two, and not a drop of rain, then you get a bit of wind. Everything tinder dry, and very hot, a warm breeze picking up, and some crazy person with a box of matches...

Imagine a massive wall of fire decending on you so suddenly and so rapidly that you can't even escape it in a car, let alone on foot.

We see the same kind of fires in CA each year on the tv, so we know how you folks feel, and we know that you understand too. We even hire the fire fighting helicopters from you in your 'off season'.

Nutcases with a box of matches....Sheesh.

Oh man, I was watching the fires on the news. They look really terrible. Huge. My thoughts are with those dealing with this horrible situation.

I was just watching this on the news....
I just cannot imagine - sheer horror!!
The media are now calling it the worst case of mass murder in Australian history...
The folks who set this fire had best hope they succumbed to the flames themselves... I would not want to be in thier shoes at this moment!!!!
I send my best wished and hopes and prayers for those left to deal with the aftermath of this reprehensible tragedy!
Cheers
Charlie

Best wishes to all our friends down under! I saw the pictures on the TV, I thought it looked like the mouth of hell. I cannot imagine what it must be like experiencing an inferno like that, it must make for a tough breed.
