What is the slot depth to cut for a 20" radius board with a .055 tang. Is there a chart somewhere that might have a table for tang / board radius? Or do you all just use a general depth with play for future re frets and board leveling?

I compound radius from 10" to 20", and leave .125 of unslotted wood remaining between the fretboard gluing surface and the bottom of the fret slot, for the LMI standard fretwire (FW74). This leaves a little gap under the fret tang, enough that you wound't have to recut fret slots for future refret jobs, even with a little fingerboard sanding. This is for a fretboard that will end up being .250 thick at the crown.

I also cut the slot 1/8" deep, leaves enough room at the higher frets on a straight 16" radius board.

Chris, My fretboards are 1/4" thick when i start and also cut 1/8" slot before i radius. But i do go back a check the edges just before i fret the board when i do a 10" radius to make sure they are deep enough.Sometimes i have to touch them up a bit on the outside of the board.
