Hello All,

I haven't shared any pics for a while, this is an EIR guitar that I really loved, when the guitar was commissioned I thought, well it might be a boring EIR build, but it turned out to be one of my all-time favorite guitars. By the way, it's a Sinker Redwood/Lutz Spruce double-top, 000-13 fret.

Nice looking guitar Greg; I'm thinking of adding a sound port to a build soon.
best regards,
jack

That's stunning, Greg!

I like the rosette... I have done a couple like that now, and I really prefer solid wood and purfling to the standard rosette. Classy!

Beautiful guitar. [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:]

Can I ask how your neck joint works? It's hard for me to tell, but it looks like the fretboard entirely floats over the body.

Greg - Stunning guitar! I have been dreamin of doing exactly what you did with the neck/body joint and carbon fiber trusses. Would you share some pics of her innards if you have them? edit add - It looks like you did something similar to Dave White of England inside or did your inspiration come from another source?

Many thanks,

Steve

Stunning - its a real pleasure seeing these stunning woprks on here - really aspirational stuff. Would be interested to hear how you go about the process with respect to the elevated soundboard - have played a few Mcphearsons with this and was very taken with the tone.

Hey thanks guys!

The headplate and rosette are ziricote.....looks even better in person!

The neck/body is a butt joint with two bolts, the neck has two CF bars full length to help with the raised fingerboard. I also use 6 or 7 CF truss rods on the inside(I'll look for some pics) which I feel are very important to use with the raised fretboard concept....my inspiration for this came from several gents doing this type of work, Dave White was one of them.(though I chose to modify it a bit by adding some additional CF rods). I actually built the first one using an adjustable neck joint, but that didn't sit well with me so I decided to go this route. The CF rods make the rim/body extremmly stiff, add that to the double sides and this system is pretty solid. I've built 4 or 5 like this now and really like what I'm getting tonally, more difficult and time-consuming, but in my mind worth it.

Cheers,
Greg

That looks fantastic Greg. I really like the look of that sinkwood... What's that gorgeous finish?

Looks great, Greg. I'm working on similar stuff with CF structural elements and an elevated, floating fretboard extension. I haven't seen your work before (that I recall), but I've been getting a lot of ideas and input from others, such as Rick Turner, as well as regulars here, like Kent Chasson, Laurent Brondel, etc.

One of the issues that comes up is flexing of the heel. Rigid as the neck block and the body itself may be, with the FB extension floating, flexing of the heel can bite you in the butt. Without the added meat of a tenon, a butt joint is all the more vulnerable. But you've built several of these successfully. What have you done to make the heel rigid and strong enough?

I would also be very interested to see what you came up with for the design of the internal struts.

Thanks -
