I will soon be at the finishing stage of my cocobolo 000 and have decided to give Z-poxy a try, and I want to stain my neck. Should one stain before or after filling with Z-pozy, my plan is to sand to the point that the epoxy is only in the grain. Also what brand or type of stain is best with Z-poxy.

I also applied shelac to the top to prevent glue staining the spruce while gluing the bindings, I have never done this before, can I spray behlens vinyl sealer and lacquer over the shelac or should I sand the top back to bare wood.

Fred

Today must be finishing day. Hopefully in 3-4 weeks we'll get to see a bunch of finished guitar pics. About the stain; if you're going to sand the epoxy back to bare wood, I'd recommend staining both before and after the z-poxy. I use the trans-tint stains mixed in alcohol. Then apply your sealer and proceed as usual.
