This is the second of the recently completed pair....#8 overall. This one's nicknamed "Redeye" (for obvious reasons...the other was "Bigband"), and is again my new 17" design, but in a more contemporary style I call "Metropolitan" with different tailpiece, bridge & pickguard.
A nod for the colour scheme goes to a fine Montreal builder Mario Beauregard...an inpiration to me. I saw his version on the website & was determined to have a crack at it.
Materials are the same, lutz from Shane on Euro maple, with Macassar fittings. Binding is curly maple. Handwound Kent Armstrong "smoothtop" & 510 tuners. Finish on both guitars is tinted Target Ultima. This one is parallel braced & a bit more lightly built, as per Benedettos suggestion (what do I know??) so it will be interesting to compare the two side by side. (I won't comment re sound/comparison 'till they're properly setup & I've lived with them a while.

Dave you just out did yourself and in the same week too - this one is just as sexy as can be!!! I love it and it's my favorite of the two.

Very nice lines and everything adds to the whole.

PS: I was on the fence about the game today but after seeing this guitar I'll go with the Steelers too!

That is a beautiful guitar.Maple is one of my favorite woods and you made good use of it.Well Done!

Dave, I still recall seeing a D'Aquisto archtop in an old magazine which left me speechless. Yours is right up there in terms of the understated elegance I saw in that one. I love that "no sea-shells were harmed in the making of this guitar" look!

Dave, my personal "take" on turning this into a business will sound a little strange to many. I have so much fun doing this as a hobby that I don't want it to become a job. But I know a lot of builders would love to be able to support themselves with luthiery or at least make some money on the side doing it. Well, I am sure of a couple of things. First, if you ever decide to sell any of these instruments, you will only need to announce that fact. There will be an instant waiting list. Second, at your rate of production, you will either wind up selling a few to make room for new ones, or you will be forced to add a room to your house! All said with a big admiring grin, of course. Keep it up!
