Interesting and I'm not surprised either.

I was not impressed when I played a Rainsong. I did think it might be a good campfire guitar although my 0-16NY did that just fine for many years and survived nicely, thank you. There's just something about wood

Now that we live in an age in which every college student's homework is available on the net, lots of science experiments are out there purporting to prove, well, a bit of everything. Given this student's assumptions, the conclusions are not surprising. Turns out that a guitar made of carbon fiber sounds rather like a guitar.

Thanks for sharing the link Fred. I found it interesting and also was surprised that through their modeling exercise they were able to predict and produce a CF soundboard that had such similar mode responses.

It has been my experience that the CF guitars that I have heard do tend to sound a bit sharper and more nasal. Perhaps this is the lack of the mellowness in the CF that they attribute to the wood topped guitar. It would be nice to have a physics lab in which to play and experiment.......

I have recently been attempting to set and attain 1st mode response targets for my tops at varying stages of construction; unbraced, braced and joined to sides. It has been an eye-opening exercise...
