I only got a couple of guitar related items this year: a set of Gotoh 510's for my guitar I am building; and Robbie's new How to Build an Electric Guitar Video.

Happy Holidays!

The coffee table book "With Strings Attached" by Jonathan Kellerman. It displays his rather extensive collection of acoustic guitars. In my stocking was the fall Fretboard journal.

HVLP conversion spray gun (which I kind of got myself), socks & slippers.

The gun is working out great BTW. I've gotten three coats on this morning and it's looking good. I'm putting a fourth on before we leave for a xmas party and will take a few pics of the finish off the gun when I get home and post them on the HVLP vs. Old school thread.

Various little things, but one very special thing to me gift wise.

My mother painted me (she is a incredible artist) a copy of Monet's Poppies. One of my favorite all time paintings, and she painted a copy of it. Oil on Canvas. I wish I had half her Talent.

Here is the original:

And here is the one my mother painted for me.

I got a billet of Zebrawood(5 sets when cut) with sapwood on one edge!! [clap]
I've never used it;anyone elso tryed it?
I got another Dremal-I need to show my wife around the shop-I have 5 already!
But it's the thought that counts!
Now they can be dedicated to one purpose.

Some great Flamenco c.d.s !!YES!!
more fret pullers-I should become a dentist !

A hugh flashlight because we have Mountain Lions (YES)around again & my shop is 300 feet from my house with no lights to show the way!!!
So when I come in late at night I need to be able to look around me.
I saw one last night stalking deer in our yard (6 +acres) these cats are big!!

I got a 24" diameter clock for the shop. Maybe they think that I can't see what time it is late at night??? Also got some new hand made aprons, a headband light and a calcualtor with LARGE numbers. Maybe they think I have eye trouble, hmmmm..... Or I am just to vain to admit it [headinwall]

I love the painting John. She really captured the boldness of Claude's individual brush strokes too!

I got a CD from a dear friend ,of the first time I set foot in a recording studio in Nashville Tennessee. It was recorded in 1970 and I had mis-placed it.I Probably hadn`t heard it in 30 years. This was a real treat ,as it brought back lots of memories. It would be fun to share a sound clip of one of the cuts with the forum, but I`m not sure how to do it.?

I agree. I like how it isn't a straight up copy, but her own spin on it. Different in small ways, but totally recognizable. I love it.

Oh and I got a huge number calculator too... but that's just cause my sausage fingers press too many little buttons at the same time...

I am not sure if this qualifies as a christmas giving since I bought it myself... I got a LMI unserviced kit and a Wagner Safe T Planer and some fret press inserts.... I hope I can do better this time. Wood is the same as my first build (Bubinga back and side, Sitka top, Sapele neck blanks, curly maple bindings) except that I have to make everything from the neck to the bridge and also bend the side...

An afternoon getting cozy, piecing together a few schematics. I've gutted my Dumble clone once again :D

The best part about building amps is that you don't need to build an entirely new instrument to see how changing one piece of the puzzle effects the entire thing.

Mom got me Clapton's Guitar and a shirt, and my sister got me a special edition Batman Begins. She's also going to a boxing class with me tomorrow.

I got to see my 8 year old daughter as excited as can be about Christmas. I think she was just as excited about coaching her uncle during Dance Dance Revolution on her new Wii as she was to get it. Seeing her smiling and excited is better than any material gift I could get.

I got the Stew Mac fret saw and miter box and a 12" radius sanding block. Now I can finish the fretboard for #3. Just gotta finish the inlays.

The best present was the look on my 3 year old nephew's face when he saw the bike my wife and I gave him!

I got a new drill press.....Very nice
The other gift was my brother in law was in town.

He was the one that introduced me to guitars 4 years ago. Before then I never played one and certainly never
built one. I owe all of the guitar stuff to him.....(Maybe he ruined my life)

Just sitting on the couch and listening to him play my L-OO BW ebony or my SJ 12 string was the best gift anyone could have. The smile on his face said it all!!!!!

I've been banned from buying more zoot (which, given I build between 0 and 3 guitars per year and therefore have about 20-30 years worth of tonewood stashed away, is fair), but since my recent volunteering/vacation trip down to South America I've had a bout of fresh photographic inspiration. So I decided to dip into the savings account a little and splurge on a camera upgrade; come February, the Availability Gods permitting, I shall be in posession of a shiny new DSLR - the Canon 5D mark II.

Spent a decent amount getting good glass over the past five years, and I'm getting increasingly irritated by the slow response, mediocre low-light performance and wide angle limitations of my trusty 300D (Digital Rebel). May have that converted to infrared. I'm currently shopping around for a good hard drive or two - at 20-30 megs/RAW file, the 750 gigs I have distributed over three different machines and four hard disks is simply not gonna cut it...
