Greetings all,

Currently working on a build where I drilled out the hole for the end pin to fit a pickup, so it's got a 1/2" hole for such. I though I had buried in my stash of junk an end pin (metal sort) that would fit it, but it doesn't want to be found.

Can anyone point me to a source where I can find a basic 1/2" metal end pin? I can't seem to find one at the usual sources.

Thanks!

Since you originally conceived this guitar as having a pickup, I'd go ahead and install an end-pin output jack, which should fit your pre-drilled hole perfectly. Then, if you ever want to actually install the pickup, you're good to go. And, if you DON'T install the pickup, you've still got a very serviceable output jack/end pin. How do I know? Because I own a similar guitar that has never had the pickup installed. But it has a nice $15 end pin/output jack. Alternatively, you could turn your own out of hardwood if you have a lathe. If you don't have a lathe, you could probably improvise something out of a small wooden drawer pull from your nearest big box home store. Try wrapping the dowel with tape until it fits your drill hole. (That's only if this is YOUR guitar, if you built it for a customer, then you have to consider the customer's feelings.) It's not a great big problem--only one that requires a little creative thinking, and then you will solve it. Go for it!!!

I just realized I didn't directly answer your question. StewMac, AllParts, and many others, including your local guitar store, carry end pin output jacks that will fit your pre drilled hole.
Chrome is standard. Gold costs a few bucks more.
