Ok I am going to tick off Lance and Brock a tad but I can’t hold it in any longer

As of this afternoon Jay Hostetler of Stewart MacDonald and myself have worked out pretty much final arrangements on a deal that will render great exposure for both the OLF and myself and make the OLF-SJ, OLF-MJ and OLF-OM plan sets available to the lutherie world in a big way. Yes boys and girls in November at the best and the first of the year at the worst these three sets of plans will be available exclusively through out friend at Stewart MacDonald. bliss bliss bliss bliss

I can’t say anything about price yet other than they will be competitive with other plans of similar quality. A good portion of the price from each set will go to support this forum and I must admit to receiving a small royalty for my intellectual property rights. (much, much less than the forum will receive)

Brock, Lance and I have been working on this for months. This is a huge exposure opportunity for the forum. Along with that comes a responsibility to be born by the membership. in particularly those that have built from these plans in the past. In the SM add for these plans is a statement that our membership will be glad to help any and all that build from these plans. So be prepared to answer question regarding these plans if you have built with them and welcome to the OLF all that come our way via these plans.

The plans will include many details not on the original sets including a cutaway detail, bolt-on neck and neck block detail and more. but the design is still the same great performers as before.

Let all give a big hand to Jay Hostetler and everyone at Steward MacDonald for giving this exposure to the forum and the opportunity to share our wealth, knowledge and friendship with a greater part of the Lutherie community. I have to admit to a tad tear in my eye to see the Library of Plans falling off the map as you know I worked hard to help start it. But this will be a great deal for the forum and will relive the delivery and administration headaches that managing the library of plans brought with it.

That's very cool Michael and All [clap] [clap] [clap]

I do have a question though. What about the other plans which were available here on the OLF like the Woolson/Fox neck set jig plans, and the other plans that were in the library of plans?

I don't have use for them but thought I'd ask for the rest of those who have been asking over the past few months.

Again, very cool Michael [:Y:]

As Michael said... this deal has been in the works for quite some time and I am thrilled to see it come together.

As for the other plans, we will figure something else out for those. Getting those printed is not nearly as difficult since they generally don't need to be 1:1 perfectly accurate.

I have two conflicting responses.

The first is this: super cool, guys!

The second is a worry that we'll become the Stew-Mac FAQ forum.

If the catalogue says we're happy to help, I'm imagining a flood of questions.

A little tounge in check here, but that's what the MIMF is for :D

Actually though, it might be a good idea to set up a new section called something like "OLF/Stew-Mac guitar plans" or something to direct people there. Than who ever wants to help with the plans (or those who can, I can't as I don't have any of them) can go there and than it's also specific and not hard to find answers to questions which might be repeated.

:)

But seriously, I might be the downer for voicing it, but I can imagine dancing banana avatars and ten threads per page titled things like, "Tape or tacks? How do you hang your plan?" Or, "What's sitka spruce?"

We'll see. Like I said, I think it's neat, but I also have reservations.

Ya, I hear ya James. I sort of thought the same thing, but also thought that it would bring some more great people here who will learn and than they can take on the mantra of teacher. It's always a revolving door for learning Bro.

Has there been any consideration for making these available as a CAD file? With more people using CNC, I think that would have tremendous value - it sure would for me. I bought your MJ plans, then drew it out on CAD to make forms, etc on the CNC.
