Always fun to come home to a box of wood! Got my shipment of wood for the next guitar from Steve at Colonial and thought I'd share...my apologies for my lack of photography skill.
Sitka soundboard is what Steve calls "good" grade, which is to say the stuff he sells ridiculously cheap. Only thing that appears to have merited a downgrade was a significant hinkey (I think that's the technical term) that will be hidden under the fingerboard. Otherwise it's consistently tight straight grain. I don't really know how to see runout nor do I have a feel for stiffness, so I can't speak to those characteristics. I could not be happier about this piece, though, especially for the price!

The back and sides are EIR, and I appreciate the folks who helped me a week or two ago when I was asking about the color of EIR. Steve had actually seen that thread and he was able to pick out a set that was exactly what I was looking for.

I'm excited to start building again! Thanks Steve, both for the wood and for your advice on everything so far!
