Lacking a reliable way to evaluate what passes through makes it impossible to verify the dandyness. We all have sieves and they work well enough for us, but sometimes people surprise me. I guess mine has a few holes in it. . .

The Desiderata isn't a creed to live by, but the first couple of paragraphs in particular ring true in the majority of instances in my experience. To coin a paraphrase "Don't criticize a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes because by then, you're a mile away, and you've got his shoes!". My half hearted attempt at levity.

I am poor at both typing, and explaining my self in the written word. English and grammar skills are weak at best.
I sure wouldn't want to have someone judge me with out actually talking face to face with them.
If all the world knew of me was by my posting on forums, I would mostly likely be very misunderstood.
Thank goodness for guitar shows ;)

I'm with you, Lance. I'm much more interested in seeing what a person actually can do, than how he can talk about it. That goes for guitar making, and just about everything else.

[:Y:] Agree strongly. I must admit I have wrongly judged people before even though I believe my perception is pretty darn good if I do say so myself. ;)

Sometimes a good policy is to
"assume that when something is said, or written, that it was intended in the best possible way,... until it is proven otherwise...."
Alot of needless misunderstandings could be avoided this way..
Cheers

I mostly like to pick my ideas and conclusions out of thin air based on nothing more than the fact that they appealed to some undefinable thing in my mental circuitry when acquired. And Mongo hate explaining and defending against logic and rhetoric. I'd rather counter with a diversionary strike if someone presses me too closely and send them off after a lark. One of my greatest joys in life is providing the conversational equivalent of dumping a mechanic's toolbox into the works of a clock tower and then sitting back to see what happens.

One of the rare exceptions to this odious behavior is this place. I joined on Jan 01, 2009 at 6:45 pm and have a total of 52 posts including this one. And I was hanging around here long before I finally registered. Mostly, I just like to shut up and listen in here.

So in a way, you're all my mentors in lutherie. Pretty much everything I know about it either came from someone in here or from a reference to a book or article from someone in here.

Which is why, if the scratch-built J-35 replica I'm planning as my next project doesn't turn out nice, I'm blaming all of you.

Rick laughing6-hehe
