What a great looking and sounding guitar, Rod. There must be no quit in you after so many set-backs. The sound clip took me by surprise both in the sound and the song choice. It really does have a Celtic sound. This definitely isn't Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians playing! Encore!!

Hey Rod, I may have given up on building guitars if I had gone through all those issues! The final guitar was certainly worth the effort!

Well done!

Ken

I am pretty sure that I have a wood set from Bob out of that batch. It has cycled through those many years here at home. John D. was kind enough to bend slope dread sides for me and I have intended top wood from Shane-some of his best. I do have a similar cedar top set that has "aged" about the same. The plan is a 12 fret, 12 string.

Your persistence arms your guitar with spirit. The sound clip has such warmth, but with appropriate treble sparkle-truly balanced.

I am now rethinking building for my self and may have to figure out a way for John to build my guitar. I don't deserve the potential.

What a beautiful guitar! Your inlays are amazing! I only hope to someday arrive at the level of luthier you are my friend. The sound is really beautiful, articulate. Amazing story of perserverence, patience, and determination. Congratulations.

Sean

Brother, that is one gorgeous guitar!

And what a story! I laughed, I cried...it became a part of me! I promise to never complain again about a guitar giving me a hard time... That is a truly epic and inspiring story!

Never, ever apologise for re posting that guitar! I can never get enough of it. Your wife is an outstanding photographer. I bet she could even make my guitars look good. She sounds great Rod. That's a very cool rendition of Auld Lang Syne. So that wood, Imbuia. It looks like burl. I'm sure it wouldn't be but what is the grain like? I've never seen anything quite like it, other than burl.

Thanks for the update Rod.

Cheers,
Danny

This is one of the best sounding guitars i've heard in a long time. Outstanding work.

Hey Danny. I'd say Imbuia is a bit of a cross (grain wise) between koa and cuban mahogany. It's got a wonderful smell when sanded (honestly, it smells very similar to pot.... 8-) )

It's great to work with, bends easy (when you got the heat right....) and machines easy too.... I'd love to get a dozen sets just to sit on for awhile....

Hi, Rod. When I saw the original post, I loved the Beauty's look and the story. But now, to hear the beautiful tone, it is absolutely magic! That is one of the most gorgeous tones I have heard in a guitar. Congratulations! ED.

Hey Rod,
I just read the Saga of the Beauty. I'm full of admiration that you kept on going especially after the first tune up when you had to make a new top.
But truly, it has been worth every calamity. She sounds absolutely fantastic. Real balance of bass and treble.
Well done.
