Danny, which pj white? Van or PW?

Vancouver. Kent St. I was very tempted. It was probably a $200 board but it would yield about 10 necks.

Lots of nice 1" stock also if you don't mind a stacked heel.

Just did a calculation. I'm not sure the FBM price but it would be more then $200.

Thanks for the tip. Must be a new shipment cause the cupboards were bare last I was there. Time to go hunting, like, right now...

A 200$ board yielding ten necks is pretty much the right price.

Actually, if you can get thermally modified (or torrefied) Sapele, you will find it is just as easy to work as HOG, and about the same density. Sands beautifully [:Y:]

So, we checked out their planks, but even though they were flatsawn, they weren't that great. We'd actually passed them over already on our last visit.

They're ok if you can find the ring Center in the middle of the board if it follows the center of the plank, but these ones didn't, plus lots of little knots.

In the center you can build a brick that yields two of theseImage
But when it's off center only one.
However, it went to vertical enough on one end to get some scarf joint necks, so a lot more was useable than I feared. Haven't made a scarf joint since my very first guitar!

Imageor twisty...

Unless you meant the stacks of flatsawn khaya which would require 3 lams per neck. Not sure how to get symmetry out of that... Should probably build one to see how it looks...Image

Otoh. Scored a sweet wenge plank:)Image
