Been using the brown stuff from LMI for 13 years. Love it. I do use the filament strapping tape in some areas like F holes.

Shellac and hair drier for removal. Still have to watch the runout. Knock the sharp edge off the binding in the waist area and cutaways to prevent tearing.

I got some of the 3M 233 from the local Napa... Will try that out and see.... As you guys mention - it does seem a whole lot stronger than the usual blue tape....

If that's not enough - I will move on up to strapping tape...

Thanks

Paul, I've never been able to tear it. As was said, it seems yours was cut, a problem at the inside curve of the waist, where the force on the tape is concentrated where the edge of the tape intersects the edge of the binding; less of a problem on outside curves, where the force is concentrated at the middle of the tape.

Wasn't me with that clever idea about the double tape dispenser. Sounds interesting, though!

Pat

Wow. That green #233 tape works about 1,000x better than the blue tape I was previously using. I think I will stick with this stuff for a while.

No need for doubling. No need for pre-cutting a million pieces. No ugly gaps. How come I didn't know about this stuff before.

Thanks
