I'm a bit speechless Beth, as I've known about this for a long time now, have had great hopes for your recovery, and have prayed for you. I know this is a difficult time, and while you continue this path, please know that folks like me and my wife are on your side, praying for you and sending our best wishes your way. Thanks for your friendship, and being my favorite Luthier Vet...

Be determined Beth!
The moment you resolve to win, every nerve and fiber in your being will immediately orient itself toward your success.
All the best!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Beth,
Saddened to hear of your current state and wishing you the best for the future. I've always enjoyed your questions and comments, seeing a keen mind which avoided much of the drama. At the very least please keep posting your valued thoughts and insights, and I look forward to hearing about and seeing pics of you latest build when you are up to the task. You have always been gracious in your comments and talented in your shop!
