Thanks Gene! Generating a program for accelerated wear holds a good many challenges in assuring the simulated wear is accurate (or at least fairly representative) of real world conditions.

I've had the machine running through many many test blocks, all sorts of different strings, tensions, angles and deflections, durations, etc. I've worked out a few minor bugs and made some refinements to the process, but as of yet my focus has been on refining and proving the methods rather than any actual comparative testing.

I see a new microscope in my future very soon. I have a number of old scopes suitable for viewing abrasion and distortion patterns, but have started looking more seriously at the digital field scopes and trinocular systems out there, along with all the measuring and mapping software they now come with. With expanded capabilities set against the drop in cost, I don't think I can resist.

Thanks Jim! Just so you know though, results may be a ways off. Like most research, the further I get in to it, the longer I realize I'll have to go.

Teaser - I have seen some interesting differences in preliminary testing of EVO vs stainless, but it's very limited and preliminary - hence the motive for a better scope and gauging system.

P.S. - Hesh, I really think investment in this digital trinocular scope system I've been drooling over could help us out dealing with end of year taxes. bliss laughing6-hehe

David, I think I could talk Hesh into the scope if you could rig that thing up to play Dueling Banjos all day long....at warp speed.

I'm just happy that David does not (yet...) need an electron scanning microscope - that's a lot of set-ups and resets to pay for one of those suckers...

David,

It's been about 18 months since the last post. Are there any shareable results yet?

I feel I've been being fairly patient beehive

Thanks,

Michael
