I'm not sure of anything!! But I bought it from a professional guitar builder who used to be around here on this forum. He said it was bois de rose, and it's very purple, so I thought to trust him. Perhaps we should start a "identify his wood" thread. I'll sniff it later

Of course it's wood, so there will be thousands of more color variations.

Definitely not an expert but the picture of the set that Laurie has sure looks like bois de rose to me. I have some that I picked up from Gilmer many years back and have just been sitting on it for that special day and special reason to build with it. It does have a flowery scent to my nostrils but my Bois de Rose sure looks just like what Laurie was showing and a beautiful set by the way.
