My wife had her gallbladder out a few years ago.
A sudden and miserable experience for her as I remember.

Glad your wife is home and recoverig well!

Best!

Lance, sorry to hear about your wife's problem.
Having to go to hospital is never a good experience.
My little lady had a perforated ulcer nearly 2 years ago which was a bit of a panic.
So we send our best regards, and wish her, and you, a speedy recovery.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Glad to hear it sounds like everything turned out well, even if it wasn't necessarily pleasant. Best wishes for a smooth recovery.

Guys and gals, sorry I have been 100% absent as of late. My wife went in the ER labor day with abdominal pain.
She was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis caused by gallstones.
Long story short, she ended up having her gallbladder removed.
10 days in the hospital kicked her butt. She is now home resting comfortably and getting better.
I took a two week leave from work and stayed with her and pretty much unplugged from the interwebs.

I am back now tho [:Y:]

I am glad your wife is recovering well. I have been there. I was told after the surgery that the doctor removed well over 100 stones. He actually said that if they had not opperated when they did, my gall bladder would have ruptured.
The pancreatitis along with the gallstones themselves were the single most painful thing I ever endured. And the most frightening, as along with the severe abdominal pain, my oxygen was cut off, and I could not breathe. I literally thought I was going to suffocate.
I am glad to know your wife's o.k. It will be much better from here.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I've been there and done that, and it's a lot easier being sick youeself than having your wife sick.

Thanks everyone, Theresa says thanks too!
She is getting stronger by the day. I think she has pretty much gotten beyond the
surgery, it's just the pancreatitis that is hanging on.
That will take some time to calm down.

Thanks again for the prayers and well wishes !
