I am going to add these to my guitars with a disclaimer in the warranty that says something like this:
All Costa Guitars come with a temperature sensitive element that produces a non-reversible white to black color change at a temperature of 105*F. If you bring in your guitar for a heat related issue and the temperature sensor has been tripped, your warranty is voided and I will probably kick you in your junk. I'll probably kick you again just as you are recovering from kick #1. Consider it retribution for abusing the poor, defenseless guitar I entrusted to you. Jerk face.

You should add something like "Removal of the temperature sensitive element will also void your warranty and earn you another kick in the junk even if the guitar doesn't have any heat related damage".

So if one was to use a temperature sensitive label, what would be a good temperature threshold to choose?
Maybe we could add a label that would spontaneously combust above a certain temperature and take the guitar with it. No more warranty concerns!

By the by, I also found these:

http://www.agmcontainer.com/humidity_in ... x56789.htm

They change color when humidity exceeds the threshold for about 24 hours

Search for Humidity Indicator cards or strips or whatever. Lots to choose from.

That is not covered by the warranty. I had a Gibson Les Paul Custom come back. I had to glue the neck back together years ago and he had dropped it recently. He didn't ask but basically if he dropped it again then its no longer covered by any warranty.

Also super glue fixes, etc. are not covered by the warranty because that is unauthorized repair.

It doesn't matter if it's a friend or whatever, business is business. A real friend would understand that.

I would fix it for free because he is a friend. I would also epoxy the bridge because you know he is going to leave it out of the case.

That would not be covered under my warranty but if it was a friend of mine, and I have sold guitars to friends, I'd give him a dope slap and tell him if he does it again it's gonna cost him. I'd also tell him that he's going to have to leave the guitar with me and pay for the shipping back home because you don't want to rush things.

I am glad you mentioned that! I was thinking the should be a standard in all future guitars.

The other one of my pet peeves is the argument about not keeping your guitar in the case. I believe that if a guitar is not being played it should be in the case. That is just me. If you have the case in the room how much harder is it to open the lid, lay the guitar in the case, close the lid and fasten 1 latch. It takes about 2 seconds longer that putting it on a stand. That way it is protected from all kinds of things. If opening the lid keeps you from playing guitar, you have a problem. Get a new hobby. If someone wants to leave it out, it is thier guitar. But when the dog knocks it over and the peg head pops off, do not send it back for warranty repair. [headinwall]
