Might be worthwhile to remember that asking price is not the same as selling price. I know for a fact that a couple of his $9000+ priced guitars actually sold here in Seattle for less than half of that.
I think it is safe to say that Mr. Schenk is a legend in his own mind. (with a big pile of marketing money)

Thanks Alex! That would be fun. Sounds like you play golf as well as I do!

As for the strings on my guitars, I have them spun from gold by Rapunzel.

GW---thats a good acronym! But my team finally came up with the perfect acronym for our comedy system which we are ready to announce and begin selling. Are you ready?

Costa Guitars is proud to introduce the be-all, end-all of side splittingly funny jokes with the Costa Guitars SUCK Comedy system!!
The Super, Unbelievable, Comedy Killing System. Yes. The Costa Guitars SUCK Comedy system is a formula developed by the crack team at Costa Guitars to officially end the comedy careers of every stand up comic who isn't willing to pony up the moolah to purchase our joke creation system. That's right, anyone who is willing to cough up the measly sum of $500,000 annually for a licensing fee to use our Costa Guitars SUCK joke writing system will be rewarded with the funniest jokes ever heard thereby making you stinking rich and the licensing fee look like chump change. In order to guarantee each licensee a ridiculously large income from the corporate gigs and HBO special they will undoubtedly get within weeks of starting to use the Costa Guitars SUCK comedy system, we will only be offering a limited number of licenses to use the system per year. For the first year, we will be offering only 100,000 licenses to the individuals with the intelligence and foresight to recognize the profit potential of the Costa Guitars SUCK comedy system.
To summarize, people have been telling jokes and writing comedy for years and some people have even made a decent living at it, but so far, nobody has really been funny. With the release of the Costa Guitars SUCK Comedy system, the world will finally learn for the first time just what "funny" really is.
Don't you want to be funny?
Don't you want to be the envy of everyone in the world(except for owners of an authentic, hand made, master class Costa Guitar of course)
If you answered "Yes" to either of these questions then there should only be three words in your head: Costa Guitars SUCK.
OK...two words and a killer acronym, but you know what we meant.
If the two words and killer acronym "Costa Guitars SUCK" is running through your mind and keeping you up at night, you know what to do.
When you really want to be funny, just think "Costa Guitars SUCK" and you will be.

Mr. Schenk reminds me a bit of Bob Vila of This Old House fame. He is quite the self promoter as well. I'm happy for anyone getting top dollar for their efforts, but I much prefer a more understated approach.
I have checked the web sites of many of the OLF members and been impressed with their work and the manner in which they present it. Just my take on it.

I can only hope that I am not #100,001 aspiring to get a license. Time to compose Craigs list ads for my table saw and Les Paul to raise $$$"s for G.L.A.D [ Gotta Liquidate Assets for Dollars ]

Alex,
You have a talent for acronyms. If the GLAD things falls through, you might want to think about a job with my Acronym Creation Team. We have an acronym for our Acronym Creation Team. I bet you wont guess it.
TACT---The Acronym Creation Team. Here at Costa Guitars, we listen to the public, no matter how little they seem to know, and we have heard people saying we lack TACT. Our initial response to that was a slew of four letter words. Then we realized that people were clearly referring to The Acronym Creation Team which we had not yet created. We went to work hiring only the best acronym creators in the business. We are proud to say we now have more TACT than anyone. We have poached people from the biggest, most well known acronyms in the world. We now staff people who used to work for the following acronyms:
SAT
PSAT
LSAT
MCAT
GED
GMAT
GRE
ACT
the entire staff of www.netlingo.com
We also staff bunch of teenagers because they come up with lots of the crap listed on netlingo.com and a bunch of other cool acronyms on a daily basis. Did anyone know that "brb" means "be right back?" I sure as heck didn't! Thats why I hire the best!!

I also have members of TACT out on the street looking for other cool acronyms so we can hire people from those organizations as well. Our goal? We will have more TACT than anyone else on the planet. Period.

Could it be that my dreams for D.O.N.U.T.S [Dawning Of a New Universal Tact Service] will finally bear fruit, jelly filled or otherwise? Maybe the world will truely be my oyster [acronym to follow]

TACT has been alerted to the fact that NASA is in fact an acronym and we are working to determine not only what it means, but what they do and if we can get their Chief Acronymologist to work for us.

Guys,

His guitars certainly are very nice.

I agree that being careful would be a good strategy.
But this goes for that guy as well. This is just one example where he says that all the others do it wrong:
Don't mistake larger, gimmicky armrests for the genuine Micro Bevel®

...and it's only natural if he gets some well deserved reactions.

"larger, gimmicky armrests"! idunno

It wasn't Rapunzel that spun straw into gold; it was the Miller's daughter in the Grimm tale Rumpelstiltskin (English/American spelling).
Let's keep our Fairy Tales straight here please...

In Tony's defense, I believe the Miller's daughter was busier than heck, and sub-contracted to Rapunzel rather than lose the business to an offshore sweat shop.

Sorry, sorry, sorry!! Didn't mean to lead anyone astray; we all know that neither of these ladies had a clue as to how to spin straw into gold!

True, but it really sounds better to have a couple of pretty girls doing the spinning, and from a marketing standpoint it would be much more $$ profitable$$. Maybe if Helen of Troy weren't so busy....

At Costa Guitars, we dont check facts. We make them up.

FYI: We recently secured Gary Busey, the apparent king of acronysms, for out TACT staff. Check out his work:

GENIUS!!! Practically every word is an acronym in his world!! He will fit in well here.

Looks like the guy makes some slick, if somewhat overhyped, guitars. As for AG Magazine much like the local rag 'New Times' that runs a yearly Best Of...along with the corresponding call to get you to advertise. The 'winners' of these things always seem to have some nice, shiny ads don't they?
