It doesn't take much to mod an off the shelf cutting gauge. It's simply a matter of rounding one of the faces. Having said that there are options that make the process a touch easier. Even though I have the Sloane I use my home made affair, easier to adjust and a touch easier to use.
The LMI cutter looks like it's based on the expensive (very) Brass versions sold by some Violin maker suppliers. The Ramirez workshop can obviously afford it:

Michael, I really like your version of the gramil. As a matter of fact, I think you should do a write up about it and stick it in the Tutorial and Jigs section. That is one of those tools that should be in everyone's kit.

Not my design but the next time I bind/purfle a Guitar I'll take some photo's and post them in the tutorial section.
