The Andy McKee concert I was attending on the same day has been canceled I will be coming. Sometimes one bad luck creates a good luck, I was torn between the 2 events and Andy won out but not now.

Yes we have some people from UMGF and the kitforum. Brenda and I are overwhelmed at the response and want to thank every one for the support. I am expecting between 75 to 90 people. I am lucky we have the room. Can't wait

I am looking forward to it as well. I was thinking of a table set up for people to display various jigs that they have made for various tasks, that they might want to bring and share. I am often humbled by the ingenuity of many of the builders I have met so far. I know for me, sometimes seeing a hand made jig can be inspiring . jody

Hey John, do you have a spot where foks can park guitars in their cases? I had been planning to bring a couple along, and I was assuming we would all be doing some playing as well as schmoozing and learning.

Looks like I talked my wife into a trip up to PA, so I can go too. Sorry I can't offer a ride, as we'll be making a couple of genealogy side trips up and back, but it lets me go. It's worth a few days of hanging in libraries and stumbling around cemeteries.

Is there an arrival time, You gotta leave time. Besides cameras what can I bring?

9AM is fine The demos are not scheduled as of yet. I need to set them up TODD CALL ME . By all means cameras are welcome . We have plenty of parking room Guitars will be stored up stairs in the shop where it is ACed and monitored.
We will be needing volunteers to be a monitor . Let me know who would be interested. I would like 2 people upstairs at all times so no ones instrument is damaged . Just a security thing.

Those 3rd party checks rock! I read the Ethiopian exchange rate is quite favorable during the dry season.
When does the gathering wrap up? I don't wanna turn into the thing that wouldn't leave but don't wanna miss anything.

Unfortunately, I doubt I will make it this year. I lost most of my frequent flyer miles (thanks Delta) I was planning on using for the trip. I wanted to tour the Martin factory while in the area and with the flights available, the only way I could do this required 3 nights in a motel......so I guess I'll have to pass this year. Disappointing.

I started back to work today for at least 7 weeks unless the co. picks up some more work after this school is done. They are putting in all new AC air handlers and chillers. I'm going to check out the old air handlers for blowers and motors but I'm pretty sure they're all 277V.
You all have fun.

It is hard to imagine the astro-dynamic effect of this constellation of major stars. I fear that with this geographic imbalance of luthier karma, we bystanders will suffer inexplicable failures in "X" brace glue-down and our binding routs will tearout in spite of studied climb cuts and conservative depth of cut.

Among other things, I plan to avoid working on my foray into HHG-I fear it will gel, even in my 75*F/74*dewpoint shop downstairs. A few of the young lawyers I have mentored have referred to me as "Tobi-Wan" behind my back-I don't believe I will be able to aggregate the force sufficiently to combat the imbalance in the luthier world on that day.

On a serious note,the eclectic nature of this gathering guarantees that there will be talent upon which one could draw merely by mental osmosis(or, a Vulcan Mind-Meld). I want to attend but the last two critical lawyer projects of my professional career are two appeals due in our Supreme Court on the 11th and a week later. About the most I could offer to folks would be some handtool set-up and honing alternatives related to Todd's demos-and even that would be purely ancillary.

Finally, I do believe that a documentary "film" of this gathering is a must. Where is Ken Burns?
