Interesting Burton. As a comparison, I wonder how many have ever heard of an HHG glued bridge failing? Has HHG never failed......or will any glue likely have a few joints fail if not executed properly?

Hi Burton, hard to draw any conclusions from two cases. Joints could have been badly prepared or old glue could have been used. I'm sure there are many more cases of HHG failing, not because it is inferior, but because it is much more in use. Just a matter of statistics. Doesn't Romanillos use fish glue in Spain?

Hey Randy,

Yes, I agree it is not possible to conclude anything from 2 cases. I do believe that Romanillos uses it but I am not certain it is the same stuff Lee Valley sells, although it may very well be. This may not have been the right place to share these examples but there has not been much talk of the limits of fish glue and I had been thinking about these two similar situations recently. In regards to Paul and Kyle's situation, I think either are an improvement over Titebond. I have found that dried fish glue squeeze out pops right off of the poly, it will dry to itself but not to the finish. Having said that, I would try to clean it off before it dries when I can.

FYI, I have used De-Glue Goo to remove dried fish glue and it was a big help.

Since we are talking about glue clean up; HHG is much easier to clean up than fish glue, which I find is a big benefit, especially around bridges. I also read about Dave White's experinces, and to me it is just one more reason to reah for the HHG instead of the FG, whenever possible. For most glue ups, the extended open time is not needed.
