Yep, This turned into a good discussion. I've certainly learned things and I believe I'm going with the bottoming out method. I'll take the machinist's advice over some author of an artical in a woodworking magazine. This isn't the first time a magazine artical has been wrong. There was one where they stated a downcut bit pulled the work up towards the router. Maybe Bob remembers that one too. Like I said before, "There are articals with disinformation too." But we have two longtime machinist here so I'll go with their advice.
