" Minimizing the hours in a build is important if you do this for a living."
Yeah but there are some places you don't want to hurry through. The more you build the faster you get. The best way to get fast is to build and only have to do things once. I find that when someone tries to hurry things along or rush that something gets done wrong and has to be done over or fixed or looks like crap or someone gets hurt. I'm not just talking guitar building.
Talk about someone being fast, pick up the lastest AL#97 and read the artical "Meet Michael Dunn" . He has an interesting story about Maestro Jose Orti. It will make you think.

I think for me -- it was Kent saying something I was wrestling with... and still am wrestling with.... It sounds dumb.... but knowing what you are shooting for tone wise.....

I really don't know what I am shooting for... It is getting better as I get a chance to play and fiddle around inside the guitar.... and build and modify, then play some more and fiddle around some more..... My "Tone picture" is starting to form a little... especially because I had no clue what a "Good" guitar could even sound like.

I want Tone... Lots of tone..... Lots and lots of tone.
I like Bass, and I like midrange and I like treble.... All entwined with Tone.
But... this is still a very nebulous idea floating around in the ether... Mostly hand waving.... nothing concrete... but I know this.... and Knowing that you don't know something is important.

I think the other thing that struck me was the C category.... "Crazy"
that we better force ourselves to not do important things while we are under the influence of "Crazy".... Fatigue, frustration, mood swings, bad weather, too much nagging, new girlfriend, whatever causes you to go "Nuts" .... and this can be "Too happy, nothing can go wrong" and it can be "Everything is going wrong, nothing goes right...."

Thanks

John
