Hesh, i am saying the same thing but in reference to newbies. I think that's why so many newbies now have better first guitars. Except me. I'm doing my part to keep the bar at a level for the masses.

Interesting thread. My first build a year ago turned out quite good, and I marveled at the time how nice it was. I have years of wordworking experience and a lot of tools, which certainly helped. However, my luthier knowledge was only just budding. Even after completing the guitar, I wasn't really that knowledgeable. I am finding that as I learn more about luthiery, the more I appreciate the craftsmanship of a nicely built guitar. I haven't been a member of the forum too long, so I can't vouch for the quality level going up. I presume with each build, though, that forum members get better.

What you are experiencing may just be a bit of an 'awakening,' which may make the quality of the guitars appear to improve due to your increased understanding of the process. Looking back at my first build, I now recognize issues where I didn't before, just because I now have a better understanding. Each guitar build offers a further 'awakening', which hopefully translates into each build being better than the one before. My second guitar is now ready for spraying. I learned from the first, and this one improves on it and doesn't have the 'issues' found in my first build. However, I do find areas that I would like to improve with the next one.

This is a great crowd. Post the pictures and don't sweat it.

Ken
