Al, How about creating a pdf of the guitar bodies for drawing a record of the patterns on like you used in the dvd. :-)

Hey guys, think this will work? Let me know what you think, I can modify it if needed. I used the OLF OM shape [:Y:]

It's 8 1/2" x 11"

Here's a PDF:

Here's one I use. More modes than I look at, though.

My sheet has two rows with seven outlines in each one. I always wish there were a few more. I use one sheet to note the 'initial' modes with the rough-trimmed bracing, often another for 'intermediate' notes, and two sheets at the end for the 'final' modes, where I track up as high as I can. The final sheets also have the brace map sketched in.

Mark Blanchard has some really nice record keeping blanks. I usually keep my stuff in file folders, one for each guitar, but he's got his in a big notebook. I made up some notebook blanks that have the 'free' plate final modes, and the lower few 'assembled' modes, with sketches of the bracing and graduation schemes of the plates. If I can get them scanned in tomorrow I'll see if my web guru can get blanks up on my site. These things aren't hard to make, though, and you mght come up with something even better!

Al input my contact information, and I thought I would acknowledge the best way to get a hold of me is by my e-mail:
sonomadb@sonic.net

If you E-mail me, I can send a copy of the information sheet for my Siggen 5 Signal generator and a copy of a bibliography on plate tuning that I put together some time back.

Since my signal generators have had discussion here, I thought I would also clarify a few things about my Siggen 5 signal generators that I currently sell.
There are two versions, the 5L (25 watt output) and the 5H (45 Watt output). Functions are the same on both.
The larger wattage is for larger instruments with thicker tops like archtop guitars and Cellos.
Larger wattage needed at lower frequencies to drive larger speakers to drive the larger plates.

The smaller wattage is for smaller instruments like violin, viola, mandolin, classical, and steel string guitar.

Cost for the Siggen 5L or 5H is $500, Priority mail shipping in the US is included.

Is there a specific speaker that can be reccomended or specs. like Wattage , Freq. range, Ohms.and Db. and possibly a model # and manufacturer? Also do you make a stand alone 25 or 45 watt. amp. that those of use using a computer based tone gen. could use use?

Also where can I get metalic glidder? All I seem to find everywhere is plastic or what ever it is. The speaker will blow it. Is the speaker's convex cone in the center suppose to move in and out and give that harsh sound to it when it starts to get some volume? Although it sounds like the DVD is this normal ? Could the computer TG or sound card be a problem with the difficulty of getting the patterns easily? I'm not using the same download as Darryl and I'm wondering if that's the case. It doesn't seem like he had any problem with it using a computer speaker amp. I guess the only way to tell is to download the same program as he and put it onto both my lap tops the old and new and see what's up.

I downloaded PAS Frequency Generator 2007 onto the old lap top and it definatly made a difference. I started to get the patterns and I turned the amplitute all the way up. It puts off a cleaner sound or wave for sure. And my speaker didn't seem to warm up like the other TG. I'm going to put it up for now and finish the rosette and brace the top before I get back to it again. Then I'll try the boom box to see if it will work also with the PAS TG.

This was the the generator that doesn't work very well for me.
