I'm building guitars. Can't get side track with a uke. Let's get a little ambious. Do a classical and I might think about it.

Sniggly,

Tell me about it. The first one I was going to some sort of reunion with my wife. Then we ended up going to a funeral instead (which I would have gone to instead of the Guitar meeting anyway). So the one at Ken's just wasn't meant to be.

Then the last one at Jims was on Easter weekend. My niece had a birthday party and for some reason there is always work to do on a holiday weekend.

This time I'm in. It is on the books and unless something drastic happens... I'll be there.

John

Oh and didn't they think to check the date before they planned that wedding? I mean have some courtesy folks!

I thought no one was responding to my uke idea. I didn't know it jumped to page five already. As far as the ukes go, I'm not really attached to ukes myself. It was just brought up at the first meeting. Does anyone like the idea of a group build with something else or should I just drop it? It could be to much trouble and everyone would rather just do there own thing.
I was really hoping you would be able to make this one Chris.

Me too Jim...Womack even offered to let me do a stay over on Friday night. Then my wife dropped this 'got a wedding' thing on me. Sucks. I've got a LOT of stuff I could have brought too.

There will be another I'm sure...and I'll be sure to give my wife a talking to before I make a stink about the location next time too... laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

I'm open to the group build idea. The uke idea works for me because you can scrounge the wood, they are as simple or as complex as you make them, and at the first meeting there was some interest. I'd be open to doing something smaller like a Mahogany 00 if we are keeping it in the guitar family. Or the idea Chris had for the little Martin.

I think we should keep the idea on the table and work out some details when we meet.

Oh, and Dave, are you bringing one of your 00's?

18 more days. Anymore ideas on demos of any kind? Does anyone have a jig they like for notching X-braces? If so,would you bring it? I would like to see it myself. We have a new member - Pete Schulte. Hopefully he'll find his way over to this forum and make himself known.

I might by then. I'm bending sides now and have brace billets on the way and CF too. Do you all have centerline finders?

I'll probably bring my trojy and a few other things I have cooked up if I end up having room in the car. I'm thinking about bringing my dish making jig but that thing is huge. I also have some of the Stew Mac pore filler. It is old, but I'll check the can and if it still looks Ok we can try and fill something with it. I don't plan on using it for anything so it is just sitting in the can.

I'd like to see your centerline finder Chris. If anyone has one Id also like to see a woolson neck jig and any sort of in process work.

I haven't even started finishing yet so It won't be ready.
Hey Jim,Do you have a list of who's coming yet? Ken B. has a bluegrass meeting that day so he's out.

I saw Jim Mitchell last week when he stopped by and I think he will probably not make it as he's out of town alot now with his new job. He ordered a Centerline Finder for his cigar box guitars. He has a web site with them and they look pretty cool. He's doing a nice job with them. I don't think everyone is checking in here so it might not be a bad idea to email everyone on the list.

I was hoping Jim would bring one of his cigar box guitars. If he is going to be in town, it would be great to see him.

No list yet Dave. I was going to wait till about ten days out in hopes people will have a better idea of what they are doing. At that time I'll send out a reminder and an updated contact list with our new member on it.

Thanks Jim, you're doing a good job with keeping things together . Can you all think of something I could bring along with the CLF?

Hey Chris. Maybe you could bring your shooting board too. It looks like you did a real nice job on it.

Another thought on a group build if there is any interest. I found a set of plans I forgot I had for a nice little flat top celtic mandolin.

I realize that most everyone is looking in at the swap meet now, but I am looking forward to the meeting this weekend. I think my family is tired of hearing about it though.

Do we have anything planned for this one? Is there a theme? I'm going to bring my Trojy if I can get it in the car (I think it will fit, but the car is small).

I'm also planning on brining the wood I have for my next build. Since I'm new to this I would like to get some openions of what I have before I start working on it from somone who knows what they are looking at.

Thanks for hosting again Jim.

Hi John. I'm looking forward to it also, and seeing all your stuff. I also hope everyone brings something for a swap meet. I have a few freebies from cleaning out my garage. By the way, I'm planning on making a big pot of grouper chowder and corn bread. Hopefully no one is tired of fish yet. If any one wants to bring a side dish or dessert that would be great. See you Saturday.

I was planning on bringing some wood. Got some 00/Parlor sized Honduran Rosewood sets, some Bubinga sets, a couple of Hon. and Cuban Mahogany sets and some mineral stain Poplar. Might cut up some Spanish Cedar for kerfed linings if I get around to it. I'm busy right now cutting some Cocobolo binding, if anyones interested.
