I finished #3

Walnut w/sapwood Back and Sides
Port Orford Cedar Top
Wenge Bindings
Vera wood rosette and head plate
Ziricote Fretboard and bridge
Pink Ivory with brass layer heel cap

It has a few cosmetic mistakes but overall it turned out nice. It sounds very crisp and clear with lots of bass for a parlor. I learned a lot from this build. Hope you all like it.

Sweet!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I like it. To me, it has kind of a retro look. The binding/purfling work is something to be proud of. Very, very nice.

Very cool!
Nice job on the ambitious detail work - especially like the bridge design!

As noted above, its very ambitious for #3 [clap] , and very nicely done and with such a wide array of woods. The purflings and slotted head really add a classic look to the entire guitar IMO.

Are you sure you didn't mean #33? #333?

Love the binding/purfling. I'm a sucker for wood in lieu of plastic.

I am also in the middle of building two Antes parlors, but mine are nowhere near this ornate. Good job!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

BTW Rusty, I used Watco Nitro Lacquer rattle cans from Home Depot.

This is a very neat instrument.

Every part fits together very nicely.
I especially like the bridge.

Where did you get the bgb purfling? Or all the purflings for that matter?

The purfling is the PF16 from Lmi. It come in two pieces and I used one for the top and the other for the bottom of the binding.

Beautiful !! I really like the ornamentation. I've gotta try those Marquetry bindings
and purflings from LMI...

Nice looking instrument! One question when you go that deep for the binding and purflings on the rims, did you need deeper linings?

I made solid linings which were slightly larger and I try not to cut the channels too deep. More scraping though.
